The Controversy!

You can find a talk show on every TV corner--be it politics, sports, entertainment, or relationships...the list goes on.  We all have an opinion and so many of us are willing to talk about it. But what if the mere pleasure of talking became a game? Yes, a format in which a scenario is put on the table for debate to contestants with opposing views and the debate winner actually wins money. Well, this is it!

The Controversy is a game of debate. Intellect, quick wit, and a persuasive delivery are the skills necessary for a solid shot at winning this game. Hot, trending, and controversial scenarios are dangled in front of potential contestants via email and social media. No topic is out of bounds. The opposing views to debate are even provided. The hosts, by flipping a coin, will determine which side of the debate the contestant is on. With that, we let The Controversy begin. The winner of each debate is determined by the studio audience via text voting to a designated number. The winners of the first two debates will become the finalists and debate for the cash grand prize.

Each game show consists of three debate rounds—the third being the grand prize round. The debate rounds are eight minutes each. At the end of each round, contestants are given a one minute rebuttal as a final appeal to the audience.

The objective is to win your debate and the grand prize. You are not necessarily arguing your faith, conviction, or passion. You are debating the scenario and the side of the argument a coin toss determines you’re on.

It Really Is “The Art of the Debate”
